Nigeria is to support the International Center for Science and Technology of Non-Aligned and Other Developing countries to address major problems confronting member-countries,
The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr, Ogbonnaya Onu made pledge when the Director-General of the Center, Prof. Arun Kulshreshtha paid him a working visit.
Dr. Onu said the Association of Non-Aligned countries was originally formed to provide alternative platform for developing countries as well as address major problems affecting member states, Such problems he added are food crises, energy, and water etc
The International Centre for Science and Technology, according to Dr. Onu, is paying a pivotal role in advancing the cause of the Non-Aligned nations through its various affirmative programmes in science and technology.
Dr. Onu believed that the activities of the Centre will be off great benefits to member countries in tackling the challenges of energy, water, health and education.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Centre, Prof, Arun Kulshreshtha said that the objective of the centre is the promotion of South-South and North-South cooperation in science and Technology
According to him, it will also create the platform for the collaboration among scientists and scientific organisations and other developing countries
The Center is also working on vaccines to combat many infectious diseases in Africa and Asia.
