The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has commended Nigerian female students for spearheading campaign against domestic violence in the country.
Dr. Onu made the commendation when the National Association of Female Students, (NANFS), led by its President, Miss Joan Obi paid him a courtesy call in his office at the weekend in Abuja.
Dr. Onu praised the students for forming the organisation at this critical time when all Nigerians are expected to contribute their quota to national development.
The Minister further lauded the noble aims and intention for the formation of the association, advising that they should also clamour for female students to embrace science courses so as to achieve self-fulfilment.
Dr. Onu praised the association for fighting for justice and equity for Women and assured them of his full support.
Earlier the President of the National Association of Female Students Joan Obi, highlighted the key objectives of the association as fighting discrimination against Women in the society.
She later presented an award on 21st CENTURY ICON OF DILIGENT SERVICE AND ROLE MODEL TO THE YOUNGER GENERATION to the minister for his outstanding leadership qualities, passion for education and youth development and his contribution to good governance and a better society in Nigeria.
