PMB TACKLING NIGERIAN PROBLEM FROM THE ROOTS-ONU

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu said that President Mohammed Buhari is trying to solve the country,s problem from the roots so that it does not re-occur.

Dr Onu said this when South South Students Assembly (SSSA) paid him a courtesy call  in his office today Friday, October 26, 2018 in Abuja.

The Minister, while thanking the students Assembly  for identifying with the anti-corruption crusade of the President Buhari’s administration added that corruption   must not be allowed to continue because fairness and justice is what we stand for.

Onu said, President Buhari is doing this for posterity, stressing the need for us to build a strong nation based on justice and fairness where everyone is given the opportunity to actualize himself.

Dr. Onu commended the contribution of the South- South to the development of our nation and promised to support their noble goals which he said are highly commendable.

Earlier, the National President of the South South Students Assembly (SSSA)  Comrade Michael Christianus called on the federal government to carry out holistic reforms of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and replace it with Techno Industrial Development Centers in each geopolitical zones whereby Nigerian graduates shall be retrained in the area of professionalism and engaged according to their disciplines.

They contended that when this is done, it will boost local technology capabilities and scientific discoveries for the country.

According to Comrade Christianus, “it will save the National Energy and social capacity of the county even as  it is imperative for science and technology ministry to establish the proposed Techno-Industrial Development Center (TDC), to help fast track the science and technology potential of the country.

“The Techno-Industrial Development Centers, when created, shall serve as the engine room and the foundation to boost innovation, invention. Skills, talents development, that shall deliver Nigeria from overdependence on foreign manpower and technology transfer, thereby making the country economically and technologically strong and independent for growth and prosperity”.
