MINISTER RECEIVES COMMITTEE’S REPORT ON RESEARCH AND INNOVATION BILL

The Honourable Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu has received the Report of the Committee to Rectify the National Research and Innovation Council Establishment Bill 2019.

The Minister, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Bitrus Bako Nabasu thanked members of the Committee for a job well-done and promised to consider and implement the report of the Committee for the development of science and technology sector.

According to the Minister, the creation of the National Research and Innovation Council Establishment Bill 2019 will create conducive environment for research work to thrive and transform Nigeria into a modern, developed and technology savvy nation.

The Minister said members of the committee were nominated based on   their track-record of solid achievements and erudition, adding that the submission of the report in record time was a testimony to the hard work and exertions put in by the committee.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Committee, Professor Emeritus Mosto Nuoha said the Committee   studied the loopholes of the earlier Report and made relevant amendments to enable the Bill to sail through this time around, adding that the members of Committee will always avail themselves to the Ministry when invited.

The Legal Adviser in the Ministry, Barrister Yvone Odu-Thamas is the Secretary of the  committee .
