THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HAS ROUNDED UP A 3- DAY COMSAT INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON APPLICATIONS OF ICTS IN EDUCATION, HEALTHCARE AND AGRICULTURE
The Federal Ministry of science and Technology has rounded up a 3- day COMSAT International Workshop on Applications of ICTs in Education, Healthcare and Agriculture, jointly organized by the Ministry, the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS), the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and the Islamic Network on Information Technology (INIT).
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Belema Wakama was represented by Engineer A. A. Talabi, Director Technology Acquisition and Adaptation Department of the ministry.
In her closing remarks, Belema said that developing countries should endeavour to use their resources to assist the less developed countries utilise ICT in the areas of developing education, agriculture and healthcare services using appropriate technology.
She advised developing countries not to hesitate to share their experiences with the under- developed countries to propel them to attain the level of development they require over a period.
She further stated that the essence of the international competition and collaboration is to share knowledge among member countries in order to create impact in all sectors of economy for sustainable economic development.
She commended the organizers of the workshop as well as the participants for making the programme a worthwhile experience.
Moreover, that Nigeria is enhancing her ICT Manpower in order to bridge technological gaps in all sectors.
At the end of the workshop, recommendations where proffered and a communique signed by Director ICT,, Mr Leon Aliboh was adopted by member countries that there should be enabling policies by the developing countries to ensure appropriate application of ICTs in line with world best practices in all sectors of the economy.
