MINISTER WOOS NIGERIAN YOUTHS TO EMBRACE STI
The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu has charged Nigeria youths to take advantage of their bulging population to accelerate the development of Nigeria in all fields of human endeavour through Science, Technology and Innovations.
Dr. Onu made the call when the executives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria visited him in his office on 2nd November 2, 2017, in Abuja.
He said that with the largest economy in Africa as well as the largest concentration of world’s largest black people, Nigerian Youths must project the potentials of the country through knowledge-based economic and scientific endeavours .
Dr, Onu said that India and China became major industrial hubs with space and nuclear power in the world despite their huge population because the young people utilized Science and Technology to be able to feed their citizens.
He noted that there was no reason why Nigeria should have unemployment, adding that President Mohammadu Buhari is determined to equip the youths to enable them transform our heritage. He added that the bulging population of young people in Nigeria was a major source of strength.
He called on the youths to strive to build the economy and make Nigeria to be attractive for other citizens of the world as we have one of the best climates in the world.
Earlier, the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ambassador Murtala Muhammed Garuba appealed to the Minister to endorse their project titled “Let’s Go Green Initiatives” which focuses on Biomass development with the aim of bringing electricity to the rural areas.
He also called on the Minister to support the Inter-tribe and Youths Empowerment Seminar coming up soon in Owerri, Imo state with the aim of sensitizing the youths to embrace one another and live in harmony with all Nigerians.
