THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IS DETERMINED TO SUPPORT AND ASSIST ANY NIGERIAN ENDOWED WITH INNOVATIVE IDEAS
The Federal Ministry of Science and Technology is determined to support and assist any Nigerian endowed with innovative ideas and intellectual properties that will render major contributions in the area of research, innovation and technology in the country.
This Indication was made in Abuja today in his office by the Honourable Minister Dr Ogbonnaya Onu when a delegation from Ikani Ecosa led by Engineer Agada Sunday Ojonimi made a presentation on Ikani Engine Contactless Over –Speed Limit Alert Device .
Dr Onu stated that The Federal Ministry of Science and Technology is interested in research development and innovation ideas that will culminate into sustainable economic development in the diversification drive of the federal government.
.The Minister called on Nigerian investors to collaborate with the ministry in developing and building new enterprises that will promote jobs and create wealth that will stem poverty out of Nigeria.
He stated that Nigeria is at the peak of developing indigenous technology and innovation that will promote and sustain intellectual properties of individual and private sector entrepreneurs’ in the ongoing commercialization process of the ministry.
Dr Onu said that the “time has come for us to come together to move Nigeria into an innovation and technology driven economy to better the lives of our citizens and give them a promising future” .
He promised to collaborate with the inventor of the speed limiting device and gave assurances of adequate support to ensure that the intellectual property of this device is protected and developed for commercialization in Nigeria and beyond the shores of Nigeria..
In his opening remarks the Director General / CEO of National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) Dr Dan Azummi while briefing the minister said that the device has a lot of security and safety implications which will be beneficial to all Nigerians .
In his presentation, Engineer Agada Ojonimi informed the minister that the Ikani contactless speed limit device is an invention that evolves technology that can cope with our environment.
The invention according to him has been programmed with an autonomous mode chip that can detect emergencies, such arm robbery, potholes and eminent danger that can be encountered on the road-by-road users.
He further briefed the minister that the invention is an android multi- faceted device that will be beneficial to both the driver of the vehicle and the passengers as well.
