Dr. Amina Shamaki (P.S FMST) calls for NMA, FRSC collaboration

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology Dr. Amina Shamaki  has called on Nigerian Medical Association  (NMA) to partner with Federal Road Safety Commission  (FRSC) in training personnel on how to reduce fatality and mortality  rate in road accidents and other disasters in the country.

Dr. Shamaki made the call when Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Abuja Chapter paid her a courtesy call at her office on Wednesday 28th March, 2018 in Abuja.

She said that the training of younger medical personnel is critical in the medical profession and expressed concern over the conduct of medical exams for new medical students in the country.

Dr. Amina called on the NMA to work together with other stakeholders to ensure that the health indices in the country are improved. She promised to support the forthcoming NMA annual conference which has the theme “quality good care delivery an indication of good governance”  

Dr. Shamaki thanked NMA for the laudable humanitarian services, especially being their brother’s keeper adding that medical personnel work silently but effectively for the country.

Dr Shamaki said that Science and Technology is critical to any human endeavours adding that it is knowledge-based enterprise that can transform and empower the country.

Earlier the Chairman of NMA, Abuja Chapter, Dr. Achonwa Chiedozie   said that they have trained 150 primary health care workers and intend to train 50 more.

He appealed for the Ministry’s support in forthcoming annual conference scheduled to hold on 3rd may, 2018 at International conference Centre Abuja

Dr.  Chiedozie hoped that the outcome of conference will make political leaders to see health as important campaign issue.
