FMST with Stakeholders Organises March for Science!!!
The Federal Ministry of Science and Technology (Department of Bioresources Technology) in collaboration with the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) and the Open Forum on Agricultural Biotechnology (OFAB), Cornell Alliance for Science and other stakeholders organised the March for Science event on Saturday, 14th April, 2018.
The event which is an annual world programme holds in April of every year where awareness is created for the society to appreciate Science in all ramifications. The event is in line with the National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy of 2012 which focuses on the “promotion of activities that enhance effective ST&I communication and inculcation of ST&I culture in Nigerians”. It was also given a prominent place in the STI policy strategies of Science, Technology and Innovation Promotion rationale, objective and strategies with relevance on the popularising of ST&I through regular technology fairs, exhibitions, S&T clubs and the mass media from all areas of films, newspapers, radio, television and internet.
The event was equally saddled for awareness creation in the society and for citizens to key into the presence of science in agriculture, environment, space science and technology, engineering amongst others. It was also meant to inculcate science culture into the mindset of the younger generation most importantly primary and secondary school children so that they can appreciate the import of science in their lives.
