The Federal Ministry of Science and Technology has established a Cassava Catalytic Factory that has the capacity to produce services and products that will create entrepreneurial skills for sustainable development in Nigeria.

 The Minister Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu said this while commissioning the Cassava Catalytic Factory in Nkalagu, Ebonyi State during the week.

 Dr Onu said ‘’ The Federal Government has established the Catalytic Cassava Factory to help boost investments and entrepreneurs in the state, that would be of tremendous benefit to the people of Nkalagu and Nigeria as a whole.

Speaking during the commissioning, the Minister said that the factory would be producing ten different types of products that would be exported outside the country in the mere future using appropriate technology.

He called on the people to add value to cassava production   in their community by protecting the facilities put in place by the Federal Government.

According to the Minister, the establishment of the factory would bring technology transfer to the indigent youths, elderly men and women, whereby FIIRO would send experts in related fields to transfer knowledge and technology to the people.

The facility he said, would provide jobs, create wealth and conquer poverty that would assist entrepreneurs to train interns who will later on build and duplicate technology and innovation for the entrepreneurial development in the community.

Earlier in her opening remarks, the Director General/ Chief Executive   Officer Federal Institute for Industrial Research Oshodi (FIIRO), Professor Gloria Nwakaego Elemo, said that with the establishment of the Catalytic Cassava Factory , Nigeria would be transformed into a technology hub in area of cassava production using  Science and Technology.

 She also said that the facility has added advantage   to the development of cassava production to an industrial level that would culminate and boost exportation in Nigeria.
