The Federal Government of Nigeria has commissioned another Incubation Centre to deploy technology as a tool for economic development in Nigeria.
The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya disclosed this at the commissioning of the Technology Incubation Centre in Izi Community Ebonyi State during the week.
Dr Onu statement said that the Incubation Centre would bring significant growth and progress that would develop market driven research and close gaps between research institutes, organized private sector and entrepreneurs in the country.
The Centre he said ‘’would change the narrative and character of the people of Ebonyi State’’.
He further stated that the best way to fight poverty is to give people skills, adding that once skills are acquired unemployment will be banished completely in the country.
The Minister also said that, with the establishment of the skills centre, resources and revenue would enhance a robust economic well being of the people that would defeat extreme poverty.
According to the Minister, President Muhammadu Buhari is desirous to tackle poverty in its totality by more centres that would add value and bring developments to communities across the country.
In his opening address, the Director General/ Chief Executive Officer, National Board for Technology Incubation, Dr Jibril Mohammed said that the establishment of the Centre is to facilitate skills acquisition, transfer of knowledge, technology and innovation to the community that would be beneficial to the state and the nation at large.
